Is Soda Still Less Than A Dollar At Piggly Wiggly?
By Angel Albring
Piggly Wiggly is one of America's most popular grocery stores and is known as the world's first self-service supermarket. The grocery chain is famous for the low-priced soda in its vending machine, and even though most prices have soared due to inflation, the soda is still quite inexpensive.
At most Piggly Wiggly stores, you can still get your favorite sodas for 50-75 cents in a vending machine. Unfortunately, Piggly Wiggly’s website doesn’t list the brands or flavors of sodas in its vending machine, nor whether it comes in a bottle or can, but it's safe to assume it's a can when you look at current market pricing for sodas.
In other stores, soda prices range from $2-$2.50, or even more depending on the location, while fast food sodas and restaurant drinks can cost over $2 per glass. Pretty soon, the only cheap soda may be at Piggly Wiggly or Dollar Tree, so if you find yourself near one, stop by one of their vending machines, even if only for nostalgia.
