Give Mashed Potatoes A Flavor Boost Using One Unexpected Sauce

The smoky, hickory, sweet taste of barbecue sauce is usually reserved for meat, but it surprisingly also provides the right flavor complement to mashed potatoes.
To enhance the flavor profile of your potatoes with barbecue sauce, simply prepare your mashed potatoes as usual and then bake them with a layer of your favorite sauce.
Alternatively, you can mix your sauce with your potatoes, milk or cream, and butter to incorporate the flavor throughout or drizzle it on your finished dish for a lighter garnish.
Topping your mashed potatoes with cheddar cheese, mozzarella, Monterey Jack, or even blue cheese will further complement the smokiness of barbecue sauce.
