David first gained experience in the culinary world via work as a dining room manager and opening team member at Hill Country Barbecue Market in 2013. In 2014, he worked as the assistant general manager at Tipsy Parson. In 2015, he began work as a freelance recipe contributor for Domino Media Group. In 2018, he joined Today Meal as a recipe editor.


David earned his bachelor's degree in business administration and finance from the University of Arizona in 2012. In 2018, he completed culinary arts and chef training at the Institute of Culinary Education.
