  • Colin wrote for the culinary publication Lowcountry Cuisine prior to joining Mashed in 2021, spotlighting local restaurants and restaurateurs in and around his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina.
  • He has written articles on nationally-recognized, award-winning restaurants including Page's Okra Grill, which was featured on the Travel Channel's "Food Paradise," where it was ranked the #2 Southern Comfort Food Restaurant in the U.S.
  • The North Carolina Press Association granted Colin an award for feature article of the year as a result of an article he wrote on a married couple who traveled around the world in a 32-foot sailboat.


Colin cut his teeth in journalism, working as a general assignment reporter in Franklin, North Carolina, for seven years covering county government, writing features, and writing a humor column on News of the Weird. In 2013, he further broadened his communications skill set, working for five years as a PR/marketing coordinator for a nonprofit, where he wrote press releases, pitched articles, edited a monthly email newsletter, and managed multiple social media pages. In 2018, Colin transitioned into freelance writing; he has written feature and news articles for a number of publications, including History Magazine, Charleston Magazine, Charleston Style and Design, Mount Pleasant Magazine, HealthLinks Magazine, and SiP Magazine.


Colin has an undergraduate degree in Literature. He also has a graduate degree in Mass Communication, through which he received training in professional news, feature, and magazine writing.
